In most older homes, the framing is honestly better- older growth timber, and still in excellent condition, and materials like brick, real wood or (swoon) heart-pine floors, plaster, and solid wood doors are often better than what’s commonly used in new construction today.  Rather than replacing them, we can repair and integrate these elements into the new design. Maybe we refinish floors, restore and match original trim, reuse brick in features areas or additions, or relocate doors and windows to support a better layout.            1. Dust

           : Remodels will get messy so if you are a clean freak, buckle up and prepare to let go of control. Barrier systems will prevent a great deal but you will notice fine layers of dust find their way outside of the construction area.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            2. Noise:
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Hammers, drills and chainsaws….oh my! The noises will be incessant. Napping or working from home during this time is not recommended.

            You will be overwhelmed with emotions, left feeling even confused at times. There will be times of gratification and times of defeat. The highs and lows are real but short-lived and all worth it in the end. The only way there is through!

           5. Change Orders:

            With unexpected circumstances come change orders. A change order is a documented alteration to the original plan. Whether it is due to unforeseen issues or an after-thought, you can typically expect delays in the project.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           6. Delays:
          &#xD;

            Schedules are great, but we would be foolish to assume everything will go as planned. Life happens and that can ultimately delay the projects. From backordered parts to mother nature, there are a lot of factors that a remodel depends on and when one area falls short, it slows everything down.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           7. Decisions:

            After experiencing a remodel, deciding what to have for dinner will never feel easier. Count on hundreds of questions that you’ll need to answer and making tough decisions down to the finest details.

           9. Conflict:

            Renovating a home with a significant other can be a true test to one’s relationship. You are stressed, exhausted and living in chaos – and at some point that may get the best of you or your partner. Compromise, preparation and focusing on the end goal are all great ways to maintain sanity in your relationship during this time.

           Raise Up

           Adding space to your home with a second or even third story can expand views and square footage without losing any yard space. With that being said, as you rise up so do the costs. An additional story can significantly impact the structure of your home, requiring reinforcements to the existing levels. There are a few main factors to keep in mind when adding another story to your house including structural requirements, stairs, windows, HVAC system, water, electric, insulation and roofing. A project like this will most likely require you to vacate your home for the duration. The good news is you’ll avoid living in a construction zone, which can be daunting, and move back into a home that’s finalized and doubled in size.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Stretch Out

           If your property has the space, expanding outwards rather than up or down could be the most cost-effective option. When considering this home addition option there are a few questions to ask yourself. Do you have the room? Will it complete your home? If you answered yes to both of these, stretching outwards could be a viable option for you. Some things to keep in mind when expanding outwards:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The least expensive square footage you can add to your home is a main-level addition on flat property. Unfortunately, it's not always that simple. For instance, if you throw in a steep slope, an addition below grade or difficult access to the construction area, the costs can easily surpass the cost of a second-story addition.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The only tricky part of main-level additions is connecting unreinforced masonry foundations. But it's still much simpler than replacing the foundation entirely in order to build up.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
